Dr. Amira “Ami” Buma, MA, PhD is a brain scientist who was trained at UCSD where she conducted research in a developmental biological psychology lab that focused on functional brain plasticity. She also studied in the Systems Neuroscience Lab at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies. Dr. Buma is an American Psychological Association (APA) published author who wrote the “APA’s Guide” to the field of psychology. She is also a published authority figure on the topics of attentional processes and the computational modeling of human brain function.
Dr. Buma has followed her life-long passions of brain science and helping others thrive in both her 20+ years as Professor of Psychology and as owner of Brain Train Centers OC. Her enthusiasm about the brain and great communication skills help her to achieve her personal goal in life: making brain health and wellness accessible to all. She is a mother of five children who loves working with clients of all ages and backgrounds. Dr. Buma’s personal experience as a mother to a child who has many diagnoses and special needs inspires her even further to help individuals and families achieve wellness and thrive as a whole.

Okay, I was highly skeptical about this. But my brain was losing information as fast as it was coming in, and I was feeling like I was mentally circling the drain. I was seriously scared; the same as everyone, I have a deep fear of becoming…mentally incapacitated, so I decided to take a chance. What really hit me was when I learned that emotional traumas concuss our brains in about the same way that physical concussions do to them. And, like most people, by the age of 62 I have endured many emotional traumas. At about 20 sessions I realized that situations which used to cause me an enormous amount of stress – no longer bothered me as much. After almost completing 40 sessions my anxiety levels are extremely low to nonexistent and I am able to process more efficiently and with greater clarity. McCall is knowledgeable, positive, helpful, and genuinely caring. She walked me through the process and I am so thankful for her as well as neurofeedback.

Results came in within 48 hours and I got a full analysis of how my brain works! It was super cool to see the science of it all. Signed up for treatment about a month ago and will do another brain scan soon. I’m excited to see what’s going on in there now. I feel very calm. My memory is better. I feel different but can’t quite describe it. Just feel good overall.
